One of the many benefits of being a SELECT member is participating in their well-organised events, such as the annual President’s Cup. This golf day is a fantastic opportunity for networking and camaraderie with industry colleagues as well as some friendly competition.
Ideal Electrical Solutions are proud to be members of SELECT, the trade association for the electrical contracting industry in Scotland. SELECT stands for excellence, professionalism, and innovation in the electrical industry, providing a platform for members to enhance their skills, network with peers, and stay updated with industry advancements.
Ideal Electrical Solutions once again took part in the SELECT President’s Cup competition, which took place on Monday, 29 July 2024, at the picturesque Dunblane New Golf Club.
This yearly event invited members and guests from all over Scotland to compete for the famous silver trophy, enjoy a day of golf, and engage with fellow professionals in the electrical industry.
Our managing director, Mark Denholm, who secured an impressive third place last year, participated again with the aim of doing even better in the rankings. Unfortunately, he was not able to achieve his goal this year.
Joining him was our operations manager, Chris Turner, who showcased his golfing skills by taking third place this year.
All golfers know that practice, skill, and an important good bounce here and there, are what make golf such an amazing game.

The day was filled with exciting activities, starting with hot drinks and rolls upon arrival at 10am. Golfers then set off in a four-ball format from 11am, with staggered tee times. The competition featured the regular East vs. West contest, with additional prizes for the longest drive, nearest the pin, and a putting competition.
After the rounds were completed, participants returned to the clubhouse for a prize-giving ceremony and a delightful two-course high tea.
A big thank you to the team at SELECT for putting on this event each year. The President’s Cup is always very well organised and more than a golf day out – it is an opportunity for members to come together, share work experiences, and enjoy some healthy competitive rivalry.
